ABOUT THE SCHOOL

The R Mitra District C.M. School of Excellence in Deoghar is situated at the heart of the city - Deoghar (Baidyanathdham), abode of Lord Shiva and also the cultural capital of Jharkhand. The school was established in 1861 by Shree Rajendra Mitra (R Mitra) and is managed by the School Education & Literacy Department, Govt. of Jharkhand. The school is affiliated to the CBSE and comes under the Dream Project of the Honourable Chief Minister of Jharkhand, known as the "CM School of Excellence". The school consists of grades 6 to 12 and is co-educational with English and Hindi being the medium of instruction. The School is accessible by an all-weather road and the academic session starts in April. The school is well-equipped with digital classrooms, modernised science labs, online classes, a library, computer lab, playground, basketball court, and well-sanitised toilets for boys and girls. The school is affiliated to the CBSE vide affiliation number 3420103.

The Founder

Raja Rajendralal Mitra (1823 or 1824 – 1891) was the first modern Indologist and polymath born in India . He was also the forerunner of the renaissance of Bengal .  He was the first author of the scientific history of Bengal. He had also earned fame as an archaeologist. Due to his merit, the government had earlier honored him by giving him the title of 'Raibahadur' and in 1888, 'Raja'.
